About Us
Donna and Brian Ruppert started Piecing The Past to share their love of reproduction fabrics and antique quilts with others. They have a passion for antique quilts and textiles, and American and Women's History of the 18th and 19th Centuries. Piecing The Past combines all these interests and collective knowledge to produce a line of products dedicated to honoring the tradition of antique quilts and the quilt makers of the last two hundred years.
Brian and Donna
Quilt Dating Services
Brian and Donna have participated in
many local and regional quilt documentation
projects and spend much of their free time studying and researching antique textiles.
Additionally, Donna is an active member of an Antique Quilt Study Group. The goal of the group is
to study antique quilts and textiles to further the knowledge and understanding of
all aspects of historical quilt making.
Drawing on our knowledge and experience, we are able to offer quilt documentation and
quilt dating services to owners of antique textiles. This service also works well
as a program for a guild or group.

Quilts for Antique Lovers
Piecing The Past will help you create reproduction quilts with all the beauty of antique quilts! If you love the look of quilts from a hundred years ago, we can help you make your own quilt with the look of an antique quilt. We feature reproduction fabrics from all eras of the 19th Century including Civil War reproduction fabrics. Piecing The Past has gathered a variety of vintage quilt patterns based on both pieced and appliquéd antique quilts. Our selection of books will help you understand vintage quilts and help you learn how to use vintage patterns to make new quilts that look like antique quilts. To complement our reproduction fabrics and vintage patterns, we have added vintage sewing accessories from pin cushions to Featherweight sewing machines. We do sell a limited number of authentic antique quilts including crazy quilts and appliquéd quilts from the 1800s.
Owners Donna and Brian Ruppert started Piecing The Past to share their love of reproduction fabrics and antique quilts with others. Piecing The Past offers individualized, personal service and attention. We are reproduction fabric lovers and would love to help you select the perfect vintage pattern and appropriate reproduction fabrics for your next quilt project.
We offer workshops and lectures about our insights and knowledge of using reproduction fabrics. Many of the workshops have a historical focus and include information on quilt and textile history and women's history.

Our inventory of antique quilts and antique sewing accessories will tempt you because each item is unusual and not readily available. Check our shopping area. Workshops
We offer many workshops suitable for both beginning and more experienced quilters. All workshops can be customized to suit the interests and needs of individual groups. Many workshops have a historical focus, such as Civil War fabrics, and include information on quilt and textile history as well as women's history. All workshops offer the participant hands-on skill building techniques and learning that can be applied to all styles of quilt making. Each student can go home with specific ideas and techniques that will benefit them no matter what style of quilts they make.
Lectures
We offer several lectures and trunk shows that draw on our collection of antique quilts and textiles and the reproduction quilts that Donna has made. Programs can be customized for each individual group. Viewing antique quilts is an excellent way to expand your knowledge of historical fabrics and vintage patterns.
